Byrd provides reason for term limits

A Letter to the Editor of the Herald Tribune

At my young age of 86, I feel that I have the right to complain about another senior citizen without being accused of prejudice. I read in the paper that Sen. , the 91- year-old senator from , made a rare appearance in the Senate to vote for by “raising his hand and murmuring his assent with a smile” when called upon to cast his vote for a member of the Supreme Court.

I have to wonder how this man will vote on the health care package. Will he read all 1,000 pages? How can this man possibly fulfill the duties and responsibilities that go along with his elected position?

This is the best argument I know for term and/or age limits for our congressional members.
