Howard Rich grew up in Brooklyn, New York where he attended George W. Wingate High School. In New York City, he attended Baruch College on a New York State Regents Scholarship, eventually earning a bachelor’s degree in economics. Rich then continued on to graduate school at NYU Graduate School of Business.

Howie Rich’s professional career began as a Manhattan residential real estate developer.
In 1970, he began buying multi-residential properties. Within 14 years, Howard had acquired 17 buildings, which gave him a strong foothold to fight for the issues he believed in.

Rich sits on the board of several organizations, such as Americans for Limited Government, a movement that sets out to protect and expand individual liberty. Howie is also involved with education reform and is the Chairman of two school choice advocate organizations, The Legislative Education Action Drive and the Parents in Charge Foundation. Along with his wife, Andrea, Howard also gives to the Student Sponsor Partnership in New York, a scholarship program designed to give deserving kids the opportunity to leave the public school system to receive a top level private education. In 2000, Howard Rich was the recipient of the Herman W. Lay Memorial Award. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for the esteemed Friedman Foundation.

Howard Rich has been active politically for almost 40 years. In 1992, Howie founded U.S Term Limits, which now stands at the forefront of the term limits movement. He later founded Americans for Limited Government. In 2006, Howie had great success in limiting governmental use of eminent domain. His initiatives were passed in nine states: Arizona, Florida, Oregon, Michigan, North Dakota, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Georgia and Nevada. Bill Wilson, the President of Americans for Limited Government, called it “…an amazing first step in the long walk away from big government.”
